Security Manager 


Job description

  • Develop and implement of the NRC Security Management System for Afghanistan;
  • Facilitate safe programming and operations in Afghanistan and ensure appropriate duty of care for NRC staff;
  • Conduct Security Risk Analysis (SRA) according to minimum operational requirements (MOSS);
  • Minimise security risks to NRC operations;
  • Manage security staff in the Kabul country office and matrix manage all field-based security team members;
  • Prepare security reports, as required by program, grants, donors and management;
  • Liaise with relevant external security actors in country and in the region;
  • Participate in formal and informal security-related fora;
  • Train and develop staff in safety and security.
  • Support CD and CMG in facilitating effective staff wellbeing

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience of working as a Security Manager/Advisor in a high-risk, humanitarian context;
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts;
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile;
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal;
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Knowledge of the current security and humanitarian context in Afghanistan;
  • Sound personal networks among security professionals and agencies in Afghanistan;
  • Previous experience managing security for international NGOs in high-risk contexts.

We offer

  • Commencement: late 2016 or early 2017
  • Contract period: 18 months
  • Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s International terms and conditions.
  • Duty station: Kabul with frequent travel to NRC field offices
  • This is an unaccompanied post/non-family duty station, with shared accommodation of moderate standard.

  • Due to high levels of insecurity, recreational and social facilities are very limited.
  • All international staff working in Afghanistan are obliged to pay income tax.
  • Medical certificate will be required before contract commencement.
